Textured Crochet Headband Ear Warmer

  • Facebook
  • X

This simple textured crochet headband ear warmer is perfect for keeping your ears warm in winter or fall. It is an easy beginner project because it is small and quick to make using single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet stitches.

When the weather turns cool, nothing beats a handmade accessory that’s both warm and beautiful.

This crochet headband ear warmer is the perfect project for fall and winter. It’s soft, stretchy, and wide enough to keep your ears warm while still looking stylish.

The design uses the Suzette stitch, a simple combination of single crochet and double crochet worked into the same stitch. This creates a thick, textured fabric that’s cozy without being too bulky.

If you’re new to crochet, this stitch is easy to learn and works up quickly.

One of the best things about this project is how fast it is. You can make a headband in about 60 minutes, making it great for last-minute gifts or for building a cozy set of ear warmers in different colors.

This pattern is also a fun way to practice new stitches while ending up with something useful.

This headband makes a wonderful gift for loved ones. Think Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, or Christmas - handmade presents are always extra special.

Whether you keep it for yourself or give it away, this project is quick and fun to make.

Things To Note:

  • This crochet headband uses the Suzzette stitch which gives a lovely textured look.
  • Takes a little over 60 minutes to make – making it perfect for last minute gifts.
  • We used 100% acrylic yarn with a recommended 4mm hook with about 14 wraps per inch – however you could use other yarn types with a similar weight.
  • This crochet headband ear warmer is about 19 inches in circumference and suitable for a head circumference of 21 inches (woman’s size). However, it can easily be adjusted to fit other sizes – see below.

Size Adjustments

To adjust the size of this pattern, measure the head circumference and deduct 2 inches (5cm) for the size of the crochet headband. Or use the measurements below:

Row 15 – ch1, FL-sc in each st to end, ch1, cut yarn, leave a long tail for sewing, fasten off.

Finishing

  • Thread the yarn tail onto a needle, then sew down the two short sides to join together.
  • Secure the seam by knotting the start and end yarn tails – do not cut yarn tails.

  • Pleat the seam you just made, then secure in place by pushing the yarn needle through all layers from bottom to top several times – pulling it tight each time, return sewing yarn back down to the starting yarn tail, knot the two ends, weave in each yarn tail, and trim away the excess.

Expert Tips

  • Use a 5mm hook for the foundation chain, to give a looser edge that will stretch with the rest of the pattern.
  • When working the first row make the stitches in the back bumps of the foundation chain, this will ensure that this starting edge will look similar to the edge of the last row
