Yarn

#2 fine (sport, baby, 5ply) 100% cotton yarn with about 16 to 18 WPI (wraps per inch)*

• Color A, yellow (center) - 7.66 yards (7 meters) per coaster
• Color B, pink (petals) - 13.12 yards (12 meters) per coaster

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - measures yarn thickness by counting how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. More wraps thinner yarn, while fewer wraps thicker yarn.

• 3mm (D/3)

These flower coasters measure about 4.33 inches (11cm in diameter) when made in the yarn specified above.

The gauge is not so important for this pattern.

Flower Crochet Coaster Instructions

Foundation, col A - Make a magic ring or chain 4, and sl st into the 1^st st to form a ring.

Rnd 1 - Ch2 (not counted as a st), 12dc into ring, pull yarn tail tight to close circle, sl st in 1^st dc to join. [12dc]

Rnd 2 - Ch2 (not counted as st), 2dc in same sp as ch-2, 2dc in next 11-sts, sl st into top of 1^st dc to join. [24dc]

Rnd 3 - Ch2 (not counted as st), 2dc in same sp as ch-2, 1dc in next st, *2dc in next st, 1dc in next, rpt from * to the end, sl st into top of 1^st dc to join, cut yarn, fasten off and weave in ends. [36dc]

Rnd, 4 col B - Slip knot yarn to hk and sl st yarn into any st. Ch1 (not counted as a st), 1sc in same sp as ch-1, 1sc in next 35-sts, sl st into 1^st st to join. [36sc]
