About the Pattern

  • The basket is made up of 5 easy rounds using half double crochet and double crochet stitches.
  • We used 100%, #4 medium acrylic worsted weight yarn (with about 11 wraps per inch) and the recommended 5mm hook size.
  • We opted to finish the last row of the basket handle with 4.5mm hook for a cleaner finish. However, if you prefer you can use the larger hook.
  • Round four consists of double crochet stitches that cross over, we opted to change the yarn color in this round to make the details stand out.

Expert Tips

  • Use a Tighter Tension: This helps the basket keep its shape.
  • Experiment with Yarns: Cotton gives a firmer feel, while acrylic stays soft and flexible.
  • Adjust Handle Length: Make it shorter for a sturdier grip or longer for a tote-style look.

Variations/Color Schemes/Ideas:

  • Soft Neutrals: Beige, gray, or white for a modern, minimalist look.
  • Bold & Bright: Fun colors like yellow, teal, or coral make a playful statement.
  • Rustic Twine: Try jute or raffia for a farmhouse-inspired version.
  • Embellished Look: Sew on small flowers, bows, or buttons for extra charm.
  • Mini Storage Set: Make a matching set in different sizes for organizing small items.

FAQ

Can I make this basket bigger?

Yes! You can make the basket bigger by adding more rounds to the base before working up the sides.
